Conductor

He has been a guest conductor for All-State and District Band festivals, and with high school and college bands, wind ensembles, chamber orchestras, and brass ensembles. He was Director of Bands at Lawrence University from 1979-2004. The Lawrence Wind Ensemble toured throughout the Midwest at regional and national conferences and conventions for the College Band Directors National Association, American Bandmasters Association, and Wisconsin State Music Association. Under his direction, the group received national recognition for three recordings and gained international radio airplay (see discography). In 1984, they received Downbeat magazine's first-place "college winning award" in the Symphonic Band category. The Lawrence Wind Ensemble's close association with American composers is evidenced by their recordings with more than twenty new works premiered at Lawrence, with Robert Levy as conductor.
