A Closing Thought

Robert Levy resides in Long Beach, NY, where he remains active as a performer, composer, and teacher. He continues to work toward producing a documentary film on the Life of American composer Alec Wilder (1907-1980).

Levy has often remarked that life has been an incredible journey. "I never imagined one day I'd be wading in the Indian Ocean, walking on China's Great Wall, dining two evenings with Aaron Copland, interviewing writer Studs Terkel and singer Tony Bennett, and have the wonderful, meaningful, and close friendships with Wilder and Schuller.  Surely, I would be remiss not to mention the many students I enjoyed working with, seeing their enthusiasm for music, and witnessing their growth and progress. Many have become great friends, while several have professional careers or college teaching positions. Last but not least, seeing the miraculous things my daughter Randi has accomplished with her middle school students has brought me joy beyond belief! When Pulitzer Prize winning author, David Maraniss, surprised us coming to Roberto Clemente Middle School, in Germantown, Maryland for the premiere of “Clemente” inspired by his book, we all shared in a magical and unforgettable experience!”
